Grouse Mountain Summer Music Series: After you hike the Grouse Grind head to the SkyDeck at Altitudes Bistro for nachos with a side of entertainment from Greg Neufeld, Friday, 6-10 p.m. Neufeld was a finalist on two seasons of Canadian Idol and later settled into a musical career, performing at events and venues throughout Canada and the U.S. Armed with a guitar, stomp box and a soulful voice, Neufeld performs renditions of well-known classics and current Top 40 covers. Red carpet rollout at Civic Plaza: B.C.’s film and TV community is set to give local residents their red-carpet moment during a screening of the classic film ET, July 20 at North Vancouver Civic Plaza, 141 West 14th St.  Paparazzi-style entertainment reporting, popcorn and giveaways will be part of the Family Movie Night event, which is getting the Hollywood treatment as a thank-you for the City of North Vancouver’s contribution to the success of the local film and TV industry. Red carpet and refreshments start at 7 p.m., followed by the movie at 9 p.m. The event is free, but bringing blankets and chairs is recommended.

Slide the City: The perennially popular Slide the City event returns with a splash to Lonsdale Avenue this weekend. A 300-metre waterslide will span four blocks from Victoria Park to Fourth Street, Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The giant slip-and-slide is part of the Fun City Festival along with other attractions including food trucks and music in Victoria Park. On Saturday, Latin, jazz and funk band Coco Jafro will perform during the free Summer Sessions concert series from 5 to 10 p.m. at The Shipyards. The Fun City Festival is expected to attract thousands of people and parking is limited. The City of North Vancouver is encouraging attendees to bike, walk or take transit instead of driving to the festival. Tickets for sliding are $40-60 and are available here.  

Cruise the Shore: Lions Gate Hospital Foundation presents a showcase of classic, custom, hot rod, antique, rare and collector vehicles July 20, 5:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday July 21, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Ambleside Park. Cruise the Shore will also feature food trucks, music, a wine and beer garden, family activities, prizes and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the new medical and surgical centre at Lions Gate Hospital. lghfoundation.com
