It’s all in the eye of the beholder, folks! Check out CityScape Community Art Space on Lonsdale to see its new 12-person show, Abstract/Realism, which runs until Aug. 18. Artists of various styles were challenged to create two pieces of the same subject in opposing styles, realist and abstracted.

You live on the West Coast, but what do you know of its homes (other than that they’re exorbitantly priced)? The 13th annual West Coast Modern Home Tour is this Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Guests who can dish out the $100+ for the event will get an in-depth tour of spectacular mid-century and contemporary West Coast modern homes perched on the rocky slopes of West Vancouver. Check in for the event is at the atrium at the West Vancouver Municipal Hall, followed by an after-tour reception at the Eagle Harbour Yacht Club. Visit the West Vancouver Museum website for more information.

If one was so inclined to get off the North Shore this weekend (crazy, I know), you might want to head on down to Jericho Beach to check out this year's Vancouver Folk Music Festival which starts tonight and goes all weekend. There's a wide swath of talented players this year, but we might recommend checking out Canadian legend Art Bergmann, who after decades in hiding has triumphantly returned to the scene with some searing hot-takes on the state of the world. Speaking of legends, Bergmann also happened to be the first ever interview subject of local West Vancouver celebrity and gonzo journalist Nardwuar the Human Serviette. Enjoy the show!
