Ayla Van Agteren won't soon forget the 2012 South Delta Secondary Dry Grad.

The Grade 12 student left the South Delta Recreation Centre on Friday, June 29 with the keys to a 2002 Honda Civic.

Entertainment at the annual alcohol-free party was lined up from the beginning of the evening to the early morning hours, including incredible hourly prizes. All grads that stayed until the end had a chance to win the grand prize, the 2002 Honda Civic sourced by Barnes Wheaton GM.

Van Agteren, who will be attending Langara next year to study criminology, said she was "over the moon" about the win and was excited to tell her parents.

A committee of Grade 12 parents and guardians was established last September to plan the party that ran from 11: 30 p.m. to 5 a.m. It followed the formal banquet and dance in downtown Vancouver.

The intent of the Dry Grad, now in its 20th year at SDSS, is to provide students with a memorable celebration in an environment that is safe as well as free from drugs and alcohol.
