A motorcyclist pulled over for travelling without a rear light ended up with a hefty fine, after the Oak Bay police officer discovered the bike had been uninsured for several months.

The rider was pulled over on Cedar Hill Cross Road about 10:10 p.m. on Friday, police said.

The officer issued the rider a $598 ticket for driving without insurance and the motorcycle was towed from the scene.
