Police are on the hunt for a woman they say punched a taxi driver in the face in West Vancouver.

The unidentified suspect got into the cab in Vancouver just before 2 a.m. Aug. 31 and asked to be taken to the North Shore, according to investigators. As the taxi was crossing the Lions Gate Bridge, she reportedly vomited in the back seat, prompting the 43-year-old driver to pull over at the north end of the crossing and demand that she leave the vehicle. The woman argued with the driver before finally paying her fare. Before she got out of the cab, however, she punched the driver in the face, said police.

The alleged victim drove to the WVPD station to report the assault. Investigators have since pulled images of the suspect from the car’s security camera, and on the weekend they circulated them to media in the hope the public can help identify her.

Anyone who recognizes the woman is asked to contact the West Vancouver police at 604-925-7300.
