Infection therapy must be used

Dear Editor:

Thanks for your informative Jan. 20 Sunday Focus story, In Safer Hands. It really was deserving of the front page. A non-antibiotic therapy that's:

? reducing infections by 39 per cent;

? saving $1.9 million in one year;

? allowing an extra 140 additional surgeries to be performed - that's big news.

What are UBC and Lions Gate Hospital waiting for? It's a no-brainer. Why has turning this technology into widespread use been slow?

Please continue to follow this story - our community needs to know as "there hasn't been a lot of support" for this invaluable procedure.

Thanks to Carolyn Cross, Dr. Elizabeth Bryce, VCH and VGH, we appreciate your time, effort, care and concern.
