NORTH Vancouver RCMP are investigating after hikers reported a body Wednesday afternoon in mountainous terrain in North Vancouver.

The passersby said they found the remains in a difficult-to-access area about an hour's hike north of Skyline Drive, according to RCMP spokesman Cpl. Peter DeVries.

Officers were still making their way to the site Wednesday evening.

It appears the recovery effort will require the assistance of firefighters with high-angle ropes, said DeVries.

So far there has been no identification made.
